The spring classics are upon us, and they entered in dramatic fashion this past weekend. Omloop Het Nieuwsblad proved a thrilling race in the last 50 km. Etixx-Quickstep fractured the race and created a four man break with three of their team members alongside Ian Stannard of Team Sky. Etixx had some serious firepower on their side with Boonen & Terpstra and seemed to have things well under control, though the finish ended up being quite surprising. No spoilers here though, if you have not seen the finish watch it below :
Next was Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, which showcased a less original finish than Omloop, but was still a fun race to watch none the less. The finish was one for the sprinters, but the typical lead out train element was missing and replaced by an unorganized mob of people aboard bicycles. As the mob approached the finish it was anyone’s race to win, check out the last few km here:
And even if the bike racing would have been miserable, does anything beat the KBK promo poster? What appears to be a literal sewer demon, rising from some type of mysterious man-hole in the middle of the cobbles? Yeah, things just got awesome. I will now spend the rest of the day trying to translate Deze koers kent geen genade, which will later be tattooed on my calf.
……does anything beat the KBK promo poster?
Well there’s always THAT podium girl poster for 2015 E3 Harelbeke! 😉 Hehe!
