I am heading to San Antonio, TX for vacation next week, and am dying to ride bikes through hill country. The only problem, I have no idea where to ride. In the spirit of that dilemma, the VR7 guys will be posting some of our favorite local rides here on the site. Hopefully some out-of-towners (or maybe some locals) will be able to discover some great riding as a result.

First up, Roxborough Park. This little gem of an area flies under the radar for most people. It is about an hour south of downtown Denver and consists of a small suburb and a couple of state parks with some fantastic road and mountain riding.
This is a great loop for all levels of cyclist. There are some good short climbs that you can hit hard, but the grades are manageable enough to spin as well. It takes you to the border of Roxborough State Park with some awesome views of arrowhead after a decent climb. Then you head into Chatfield State Park, which is always safe and very scenic during the fall. The ride finishes with a trip past South Valley open space, which has stellar views of more red rocks.
Stats | 39 miles, 2,685 ft of climbing
